The popularity of the Indian Premium League continues to thrive each season, having started quite recently in 2008. The IPL is a Twenty20 cricket league that brings international stars to play alongside local Indian players; there tends to be plenty of Australian players found in the IPL. In the 2011 season, there was 10 teams participating, but for the upcoming 2012 season there will be just 9 after Kochi Tuskers Kerala were terminated for breaching its terms of agreement. The 2012 IPL (or IPL 5) will begin in April and end in late May.
In regards to the past winners, the 2008 Champions were Rajasthan Royals, the 2009 Champions were Deccan Chargers and Chennai Super Kings were the Champions in both 2010 and 2011. You would certainly have to say that Chennai Super Kings will be the team to beat in 2012! This team is captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni who is also the captain of the current World Champions India. The future is certainly bright for the Indian Premier League and it is interestingly the second highest-paid league in the world for salaries, second to only NBA. It has been difficult to track down an IPL widget online to add here, but you should find one added just before the new IPL season begins.

Sachin Tendulkar, who has picked up the nicknames over the years of Little Master, Tendlya and The God of Cricket certainly has impressive records. Starting with ODI highest career runs, it is Sachin Tendulkar that has the top score of 18,111 at this time; the two players below him both have in the region of 13,500 that shows just how great Sachin’s stat is there. The Test Cricket runs title at this time is also held by Sachin Tendulkar at 15,180 at this time; again, the chasing pack have some catching up to do here. Sachin Tendulkar holds many other cricket batting records and has picked up many awards over the years for the incredible talent that he has that has helped to push India forward as one of the leading teams in world cricket.

The cricket batting average allows us to measure the performance of a cricket batsman and we will usually have separate averages for various forms of cricket such as ODI, Test Cricket etc. How do you work out a cricket batting average? This is a simple calculation whereby you take the total number of runs made by a batsman and then divide this amount by the number of times he has been out (number of innings). Remember to firstly take away the number of "not-outs" from the total innings. Using the example of the greatest batting average of all time (6996 runs, 80 innings and 10 not-outs), take the 10 not outs from the 80 innings and we have 70. Then we have the 6996 runs and then divide this by that 70, equating to a batting average of 99.94.

This is a simple calculation whereby you take the total number of runs made by a batsman and then divide this amount by the number of times he has been out (number of innings). Then we have the 6996 runs and then divide this by that 70, equating to a batting average of 99.94.

This 99.94 record is of course a Test Cricket record belonging to the Australian cricketer Sir Donald George Bradman (Donald Bradman); to back this up, his overall batting average covering all cricket forms played still sits just above the 90 mark. Just to indicate how phenomenal Donald Bradman’s Test Cricket record is, the next best career averages include Graeme Pollock (60.97), George Headley (60.83) and Herbert Sutcliffe (60.73). A batsman would usually have a record between 30 and 50! A career batting average over 50 is considered exceptional (again rising attention to that 99.94). The modern great batsman is India’s Sachin Tendulkar who struggles with such batting averages, but he does of course hold many other batting records.

The ICC ODI Championship arrived in 2002. One Day International (ODI) is limited overs cricket that is unique to test cricket in that the 10 teams with “Test Status” are involved, but as well as this 6 of the top associate and affiliate members can also compete (5 of these are associates and Afghanistan is an affiliate). For a reminder of those 10 Test Status teams, we have alphabetically Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe. The top 6 teams with ODI status are Ireland (11th), Netherlands (12th), Kenya (13th), Afghanistan (14th), Scotland (15th) and Canada (16th).

ODI Championship Rankings: The top 13 teams appear on the main table, whilst various associate and affiliate members then follow in a second table. These rankings can be climbed via performance in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers. Historically, Australia has been the most successful team in ODI cricket with the highest rating of 140. Australia has that 1st spot ranking today as well with a current rating of 130. At this time we follow with, Sri Lanka in 2nd place, India are in 3rd place, South Africa are in 4th place and England sit in 5th place. The current ICC ODI Championship rankings can be found on the bottom right widget (alongside the Test rankings) covering the top 10.

The ICC Test Championship arrived in 2003. This competition is played out between the 10 teams that have achieved “Test Status” from the ICC (International Cricket Council). The 10 teams that currently have Test Status include listed alphabetically: Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe. The format of these test cricket matches are played out over 5 days, which is designed as the most “Ultimate test of playing ability and endurance in the sport”. This is why just the 10 Test Status teams are involved in this competition. They are also each ranked on their ongoing performance.

Test Championship Rankings: Historically, Australia has been the most successful team in test cricket with the highest rating of 143. Recently Australia have lost their dominance in test cricket though and have fallen behind the rankings currently sitting in 4th spot. Above them and the others we have England who are sitting in 1st spot with a 125 rating. Sitting below England is South Africa in 2nd spot and then India sit in the 3rd place. The current ICC Test Championship rankings can be found on the bottom right widget (alongside the ODI rankings). Only 9 teams out of 10 are currently ranked as Zimbabwe has played insufficient matches to qualify.

The intention here at Live Cricket Score 4U is to provide live cricket scores from across the globe and at the same time provide fresh relevant content to each and every visitor. The critical element here is the live cricket scores that are presented here as widgets. There are currently two widgets featured and this posting will provide some information on each of these. The objective here will always be to raise the bar and fortunately the featured widgets are continually being improved with an eye on design and speed. For now, a live cricket score widget has been taken from ECB and VCricket. Both widgets show up on every single page that you visit on this site.

ECB Live Scores Widget: This blue widget is featured on your right side beside this content. This widget covers international live cricket scores and domestic English live cricket scores. Who is the ECB? The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the governing body for all cricket in England and Wales. This means that they administrator the LV County Championship, the Friends Life t20 and also the Clydesdale Bank 40. This site itself is based in England, which is the reason why this particular widget has been added. As well as this, the live scores are updated quickly, there is no need to refresh the browser and this is also one of the best looking widgets out there.

VCricket Live Scores Widget: This large widget on the top right side is designed to showcase international cricket scores and it also includes IPL teams (Indian Premier League) for domestic Indian cricket. This is another impressive looking widget that boasts updates between 3 to 7 Seconds after the actual event and is updated ball by ball. With having this VCricket widget and the ECB widget that also covers international matches, this means that the India cricket score can be tracked on two occasions on every page. At this time, these two widgets do the job well, but as noted do expect further updates as we move forward.

Update: A third widget has now been added on the bottom right side of the page. This widget shows the current ICC ODI rankings and the current ICC Test rankings. You can also view the top player rankings from this nifty widget.

Here you will always see a group of friends playing cricket before any other sport. India is crazy for the “Gentleman’s Game” and the players that repesent them on the world stage make their people proud, with India being the 2011 Cricket World Cup Champions. The national team has helped to push on the sport, but there are other critical elements, such as the Indian Premier League (IPL) that has shown just how popular the Twenty20 concept can be. There is a love for cricket in other countries such as Australia, yet the massive interest online circulating from India makes the Indian cricket audience the primary target here.

International Cricket: We will begin with “Test Cricket” that runs long 5 day matches. Test Cricket involves teams that have achieved “Test Status” from the International Cricket Council (ICC) who are the international governing body of cricket. There is much international focus on shorter periods. One Day International (ODI) is a form of limited overs cricket played out between teams with “Test Status” and 6 other teams (the top associate and affiliate members). The “One Day International” format is also used for the Cricket World Cup. The modern Twenty20 concept has also arrived on the international scene.

The Cricket World Cup is of course a major interest for all cricket fans stretching across the globe. The first Cricket World Cup was hosted in England back in 1975 and there has been 10 Cricket World Cup winners to this day, with the leading team being Australia with 4 wins, India and the West Indies each have two wins and Pakistan and Sri Lanka are the other two winners. India are the current World Champions 2011, although before this time Australia were highly dominant with three consecutive World Cup wins. Australia and New Zealand will host the next World Cup in 2015, whilst England will host the following World Cup in 2019.
